Eircom Northern Ireland, in partnership with IT Assist, has won the Best Large Scale ICT Transformation Project at the Northern Ireland ICT Innovation Forum’s Innovation in Public Services Awards earlier this month in Belfast.

They were given the award in recognition of the exciting and innovative project, Network NI, the powerful new communications platform that has become an important foundation for the successful delivery of shared services across the public service.

Darren Lemon, General Manager of eircom NI, said, “We at eircom NI are very proud of Network NI.  It is a project which has enabled a series of disparate telecommunications networks across eleven Civil Service Departments to be brought together into a single state of the art Managed Network Service.

“This award is true recognition of what can be achieved by integrating our 21st Century telecommunication services with foresight and innovation. It is also evidence on how the public and private sector can work together successfully.” 

Network NI was delivered as a joint effort with the Department of Finance and Personnel’s Shared Services Organisation. This is a service, which delivers the key foundation for the Northern Ireland Civil Service reform programme, and will change how people work. It has the ability to realise significant efficiencies in time and money.

Darren Lemon continued, “We are absolutely delighted that eircom NI has been acknowledged in this manner. This recognises the outstanding effort and great working partnership between eircom Northern Ireland and the NI Civil Service in making Network NI such a resounding success.”
